Rebecca Dougan

Rebecca qualified as a Paediatric Nurse in 2018, having trained in Edinburgh. She moved home to Newcastle and took up her first role on a busy surgical unit at the Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI, where she built her initial knowledge of stoma care. Rebecca joined the GNCH Stoma & Urology Team on a secondment for 6 months in 2022, where she gained an understanding of band 6 practice and how a stoma care nurse supports patients on an individual basis. Rebecca was then successful in securing a second secondment with the team in 2023 which furthered her stoma care experience, resulting in her joining the team permanently in 2024. She prides herself on providing patient-centred care for those with complex colorectal and urology issues and enjoys continually growing her knowledge, experience and passion within stoma care.
