Helen Strapp
Nurse Tutor, School of Nursing & Midwifery, The Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland
I am a Nurse Tutor at the School of Nursing & Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. I am a qualified RGN, RSCN, RNP, and RANP, holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Wound Healing & Tissue Repair and an MSc in Nursing. Throughout my nursing career, I worked in a variety of roles and I discovered my passion for wounds when I worked as a ward manager on a vascular ward in St. Vincent’s University Hospital. This led me to pursue Tissue Viability as my chosen specialty. I completed further study in this field with a PGDip and MSc. As a result, I advanced from Clinical Nurse Specialist to a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Tissue Viability. I spent 18 years working at Tallaght University Hospital before joining RCSI in 2023. I now derive great satisfaction from sharing my knowledge, expertise, and passion for wound management with students enrolled in the wound management programme. I am president of the WMAI, trustee EPUAP and member of EWMA.
