Bipana Lama
Clinical Nurse Specialist – Stoma Care, St Marks Hospital
I began my career as a qualified nurse in 2019, working within the Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit for three years. During this time, I supported patients with stoma and fistula care on the ward under the guidance of the stoma care team and senior colleagues. In 2021, I further developed my practice by specialising in stoma care, focusing on the management of stoma-related complications and providing holistic support to patients and their families to improve quality of life. Currently, I support patients throughout their stoma care journey, including the management of complex fistulas, discharge planning, and the delivery of nurse-led stoma care clinics. I work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provide guidance and support to junior staff. Additionally, I work closely with the surgical team and colleagues to deliver distal limb feeding interventions, aiming to optimise patient outcomes and enhance quality of life following stoma reversal.
