Lisa Hall | Community Stoma Nurse and Team Leader

I qualified as an RGN in 1991 after training at Airedale General Hospital in the Yorkshire Dales. My nursing career has been varied and I have loved it all! I have worked on surgical wards in Airedale Hospital, Medway Hospital in Kent, and in BMH Rinteln which was a ward in a military hospital in Germany. I also worked as a practice nurse in the medical centre on an army base in Germany which was a unique experience!

I worked as a community staff nurse in Hampshire then Huddersfield, before undertaking a 6 month secondment and university module with the Stoma and Colorectal team at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where I then worked for over 10 years.

I began working for Salts Healthcare as a community stoma nurse in 2013 where I still work, and I’m now the team leader of 7 other stoma nurses. The team work in hospitals and the community which keeps us busy, and I enjoy supporting the Salts Academy where possible, speaking on some of the study days or courses. I am passionate about stoma care and educating the new stoma nurses of the future, and have been lucky enough to speak at ASCN & WCET conferences in the past, along with having had posters displayed too. Whilst I don’t class myself as particularly academic, I have had a couple of articles published in GIN, Colostomy UK patient magazine and Stoma Tips magazine.

In my spare time I enjoy hill walking, Pilates and Yoga to keep myself fit, whilst also running around after my 2 beautiful young grand-daughters.
